"Any Way the Gentile Wants It"

In The Light of the Jewish Idea of Rabbi Kahane

by Nachum Shifren

The bus driver had to stop himself for a minute. You see, the tour guide of the Jewish National Fund didn't seem to understand the reality.

"You see, we don't GO to Hebron. It's too risky. And anyway, most people could care less," was the wimpy, self-debasing response, designed to put cold water on the naive tourist's enthusiasm for his biblical roots.

And so it goes, year after year. First Bibi gave Hebron back to the murderous "Palestinians", then successive governments went on a self-destruct mode, bending over backwards to show the world that the Seed of Abraham sucks and would be better off without a heritage that the whole world wants purged.

A word to our readers: It's the biggest bluff that ever took place. There's not one Baptist or Methodist that would believe that Hebron belongs to any other nation other than the Jewish people. The challenge is to try to convince this to the Israeli government!

Some inconvenient facts for Leftists and Jewish apologists: Hebron was signed and paid for "kesef over l' socher." (cold hard cash) Our Father Abraham put it to Efron the Hittite: "I'm a resident/stranger among you." What? If he's a stranger, then he should split and let the Palestinians have peace and quiet. But if he's a resident, then what's with the request to buy a burial plot for his wife Sarah for 400 shekels? Let him take it and be done with it.

In truth, Abraham is very courteous and a mensch. He knows these clowns will one day say that we stole the land from the poor Arabs. The fact that the WHOLE OF THE LAND OF ISRAEL WAS GIVEN TO JEWS AS A GIFT FROM G-d, never fazed anyone. What always matters is, especially in this insane generation of getting and spending, the bottom line.

So Abraham presents himself first as a stranger, imploring the Hittite to allow Abraham the plot, nearly begging him to take the money from him. Then, he uses the trump card: "If you don't want to treat me with the hospitality deserving of a stranger, then I'll claim the land as a resident, and you'll get nothing."

There's the story, folks. The over-looked version of one of the greatest real estate transactions in the history of mankind. Now this only makes sense if we truly believe in Hashem's version of the story. Whoa unto us if we have to rely on Kofi Annan's version, since we really have no right to ANY OF THE LAND.

This shabbos, parshat Chaye Sarah, thousands of Jews from all over Israel will converge on Chevron and Kiryat Arba, burial place of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs of the Jewish people. Let the world know that the Children of Israel are ready to be in the face of anyone that attempts to talk us out of our birthright.

Only Jewish power, acts of kindness, prayer, and belief in the Almighty will ultimately liberate Hebron from the snake pit it finds itself nowadays. In the merit of those faithful and brave Jews of Hebron, we continue to celebrate this week's Torah reading. May Hashem continue to watch over them until the time of our redemption, soon in our days.
