"Stand With....er, uh, .....Us?"

In The Light of the Jewish Idea of Rabbi Kahane by Nachum Shifren

I attended a political meeting recently of conservatives and was surprised to see that one of the leaders of the group, "Stand With Us"

was on the agenda to speak. What, I wondered, could the reason be for such an appearance? Was it to appraise a group of Gentiles about the whipping we Jews got by a bunch of dogs in Lebanon? Was it to arouse pity with the retelling of the 10,000 missiles shot at Israel? What, really, was the point?

The speaker went on to talk about a recent trip made during the fighting where it was described that nearly a million people were living in bomb shelters. "Can you imagine that?" "How would you feel if this happened to you?" "How could the whole world turn their back on tiny Israel?"

Holding myself back from puking, I was forced to remind the speaker that for the first time, Israel had abandoned its prisoners (the recovery of these was the whole premise for the war!). Not only that, but Israel's agreement to a cease-fire had emboldened the jackals and would further endanger the Jewish people in the next round of fighting.

I closed my comments by reminding this friendly audience that the seditious behavior of Olmert et al would not be forgotten.

Now, why would one assume that "a million people in bomb shelters" is something that would arouse pride and self-esteem? What is the motivation to tell the world about how you had cowered underneath the ground, while your enemy spit in your face? No, there's something wrong with this. But it was all said before by Rabbi Kahane, HY"D. The world, and especially Jewish leaders and organizations, love to eulogize an Auschwitz, but abhors the thought of Jews actually killing and vanquishing the enemy. MARK WELL: THIS GROUP IS ONE OF THE FOREMOST ACTIVIST ORGANIZATIONS ON BEHALF OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE IN ISRAEL!

They're well-funded, on the campuses, and are very visible. This miserable demonstration of Jewish impotence passes for "activism!"

I tell you that in 1967, the Arabs cowered before the Jew! The Arab KNEW that he would be slaughtered, and held his head low!! But alas, even HE couldn't imagine in his wildest dream that the "Zionists" were really a paper tiger, not really believing in their Divine victory, and Hashem's wrath against the barbaric enemy. And now.....well, there's organizations like "Stand (cower) With Us" to scare the blood-thirsty Arab enemy into submission-- right here on the campuses! A type of long-distance scare via America on its way to the Arab countries.

Our message of the last few days is a quite different picture: We are pleading, begging, praying once again this year, to the Sovereign of the Universe, for compassion, for forgiveness. Mostly, it is our will that He should continue to be our King and Protector, as we submit to his will and holy Torah. Once the Jews (forget the Goy) understand who they really are, and what their G-d is, then there'll be no more need for such "organizations."

There is a story Rav Kahane used to tell about the Kotzker Rebbe: Since the Torah goes out of its way to laud the attribute of self-nullification, lowliness, and a total lack of haughtiness, the Torah should therefore be given in a valley, the lowliest point on the Earth. Why then, was it given on a mountain, even a "low" mountain like Mount Sinai? Answer: because Hashem wanted us to have enough self-esteem and Jewish pride to never let anyone kick us around!

Nowhere is it written that the meek who inherit the earth will be schleppers!
