"It's All About Kahane"
In The Light of the Jewish Idea of Rabbi Meir Kahane
by Nachum Shifren

There's a little bumper sticker that's become popular in Israel. "Kahane Was Right!" Not always, but sometimes bumper stickers reveal a bigger truth. For years, our saintly rabbi warned us of the tragedy that has befallen us today. "There is no living with cancer: you either cut it out and destroy it, or it destroys you," was his prophetic warning about the Arabs. This is now the third incursion the Israel has made into Lebanon. Question: how long will it take before Israel buckles under world pressure to withdrawal, and thereby further endangering Jewish lives? Answer: as soon as Bush gets enough pressure on him from world and "Jewish" leaders.

We have railed and ranted already for so long, it's become tedious. We have no more words to describe a "Jewish" government that puts the priorities of the terrorists before those of its own people. Since the pull out of Gaza, terror has doubled, more rockets have been fired than ever before. What of our "peace" partners and their vision of a new dawn in the Middle East? What of the promises that if only the Jews would leave them alone, they could develop and thrive as a society? What of the claims that the close proximity of Jews in the region was "inciting" them to acts of violence.

The destruction we are now witnessing in Haifa, Rosh Hanikra, Nahariya, and Kiryat Shmoneh have as its cause only one source: the Jewish leadership. The Arabs haven't changed. They will always be counted on to respect only strength and take advantage of appeared weakness. It is US, the rightful owners of the Land of Israel, that have shown our self-debasement and insecurity about holding on to G-d's inheritance to us. It is US, the self-hating Jews, the placating ones to every whim and contention of the Gentiles, that have turned our backs on the majesty and splendor of G-s promise.

Talk show host Larry Elder, probably more pro-Israel than 90% of the rabbis, had is all wrong. It is not the fact that Jews "have been living in the area for 3000 years" that makes their position justifiable. Arabs can, and do, make the same claim. I was not personally in the area- ever- except for a few years in recent history. It is our claim as set forth in our Torah, an "eternal inheritance", that sets us apart from the rest of the claimants of this precious legacy.

We now remember, bitterly, with anguish, all the rallies Rabbi Kahane held over the length and breadth of the Land, crying out to those that would only listen, before it's too late, that only a return to our roots, our national pride and self-esteem, are the solutions to the predicament we now find ourselves. And for all that, he (we) got only stones, eggs, tomatoes, bottles, and more, as tokens of appreciation. Let the soldier on the line, whether in Gaza or Lebanon know, that only a true leadership, an absolutely uncompromising measure of Jewish power and self-respect, will win the war and give him any chance at victory. Just as in the case of Pinchas (our weekly Torah portion), he understood that where there is a desecration of G-d that is so blatant, swift and decisive action must be taken. Not very peasant sometimes, and perhaps even dangerous, but the survival of the Jewish people cannot be decided about in Federation boardrooms and U.N. committees.

As we continue to follow events, we must never forget those who have betrayed us and have shown more pity to the murderers and rapists than to our own people. And let us learn to denounce them and banish them from our midst. We beseech all our readers to increase in acts of kindness to our fellow Jews, charity, and Torah study. May Hashem find reasons for compassion at this time, to all the people of Israel.
