What Have we Come to?

By Rabbi Brad Rosen, B'nai Elim

Parshat Vayeitzei

We might have to wonder with the direction of where these putrid leaders are leading us (straight to destruction) and with all the corruption from the Prime Minister’s office, the question that has been bothering me is what have we come to? Will we ever regain the strength and confidence and momentum that we once had and who will actually lead us?

It’s sad to watch the fact that Yerushalayim is for sale. For what? For nothing. For absolutely nothing but a continued force that will grow stronger to beat the Jews and take over Yerushalaim and soon enough all of Eretz Yisrael. We watch a prime minister slip deeper into the mud from where, somehow, he was elected. The slime and worm that he is. We watch him concede and make peace deals and promise our G-d given land to our worst enemies. He looks to uproot Jews and tries to smooth things over by telling them he must dismantle our good Jewish homes and give it to terrorists and Arabs who want nothing more but all the Jews off our land or better yet, dead Jews. He continues to lie to the public and we eat it up. We watch him tell us that he won’t uproot Jews or he might uproot a few thousand, in different phases. If 10,000 Jews could be thrown from their own land in one full swoop in Gaza, then certainly if this government wants to uproot the Jews from the west bank, it will certainly try and if we stay in this perpetual sleep we might actually let them get away with it. Then I propose the questions: What will be next, all of Yerushalayim? Qassam rockets which could hit any where in central Israel? Hamas in control of Hebron and any area Olmert decides to give up? This seems to be like a scene out of the worst horror movie. Have we completely lost our minds to let this government threaten more Jews after the tragedy we all watched take place in Gush Katif and to good Israeli citizens only two years ago? Have we forgotten the lessons of Qussam Rockets perpetually and still raining down day after day on Sderot? And can we not see that this government only cares about their wallets and not a bit about Sderot or the people of Gush Katif who were promised compensation and have seen nothing? Are we blinded by our sense of normalcy and inability to do anything to oust this Prime Minister and government? Are we too consumed with our own lives to actually care about the future of our capital and of our Jewish state?

 CONTINUED
Dear President Bush,

Yesterday Al Aksa Brigades (that's the group that no longer exists because PA security put them out of business) announced that from Samaria they fired a "Bashaar 1" rocket into Israel.  There is no evidence of that rocket. But the announced intention is clear.

A spokesman for the group said they intend to continue to manufacture rockets in Judea and Samaria:
"We are obligated to the path of the (armed struggle), the Fatah movement's path. We won't put our guns down and we'll continue resisting the occupation. Our weapons will continue to be steadfastly pointed towards the Zionist enemy."
  • Isn't it obvious that the "Palestinians" will never negotiate in good faith.

  • Isn't it also evident that no one can speak for the Palestinians, and if anyone now has legitimacy, it is the terrorist organization "Hamas" that was not only elected by the Palestinians, but who threw the current Prime Minister out of Gaza?
  • Prime Minister Abbas belongs to, and controls Fatah who is no less a terrorist group than Hamas. Why are we negotiating with Abbas when he has stated that his designs on Jerusalem are "non-negotiable"?

Please do not force Israel into any agreement that the Israelis themselves do not want, and will not honor. Prime Minister Olmert is another Jimmy Carter. We view him as an incompetent narcissist who does not speak for the majority of the people of Israel. He is only in office because his cronies in the Kenesset refuse to call for elections out of fear of losing their own seats.

It is abundantly clear that the Arabs surrounding Israel are capitalizing on Israel's perceived weaknesses because of Olmert's failure at Annapolis, the United States insistence on uprooting Jewish homes, and forcing Israel to accept a hostile Arab state cutting her in half.

If the United States continues on this two-faced policy, pretending to be Israel's friend and ally and giving arms and assistance to the Palestinians, Israel will not be able to defend herself. Olmert is a traitor. The Israel Defense Forces will not follow his orders if they endanger Israeli citizens; i.e. giving the Golan to Syria. (why would anyone want to force Israel into this strategic blunder unless they are pushing for her eventual destruction?) Another point to consider... no matter what the United States or Olmert says, the Jewish people will not allow the partition of Jerusalem. Such a move, if supported by the IDF, will throw the country into civil war. Do you want something as horrendous to be your legacy as President? I hope not!

Please reconsider your position on a Palestinian State and, on the construction in the "Settlements" (actually bona fide Jewish towns), and in uprooting thousands of Jewish citizens from their homes. Look at the aftermath of the "evacuation" of Gush Katif! Why would you want a repetition of making Jewish citizens refugees in their own country because of nothing other than pressure by you and the State Department (or should I say extortion)?

Sincerely,

William D. Maniaci

The War With Salamanders

by Vitaly Raevsky, B'nai Elim Russian Relations

"You, madmen, stop feeding salamanders! Stop giving them jobs, refuse their services, break off with them. Let them feed themselves."
                                                            -Karel Chapek, 1936-

Karel Chapek, a brilliant Czechoslovak writer and political seer, who foresaw the fate of humanity after Hitler’s coming to Power, presented his dark visions in a ground breaking novel of social fantasy “The war with salamanders” (also translated as "The war with newts"), in which people confront fast learning animals, who possess some intellect .The main reason for writing this novel was Chapek's unease about the Fate of Humanity. “...in fact, I am unable to avert what is threatening the human civilization; however, I cannot stop seeing the threat, or thinking about it almost constantly.” The novel-warning was written, when only few people were able to perceive the Hitler’s Nazism as a threat of a war of extermination aimed at a capture of the World. Most people were blind as in a parable, "blind isn't one who does not see but one who does not want to". Karel Chapek saw the threat to the civilization from monsters, who grew to demand the World domination, and he presented them as relatively intelligent humanoid marine animals nourished into becoming a mortal threat to the Humanity by human greed and naiveté.
… The master of a steamer, Dutch man, Van Toh, looking for pearls, came across the lagoon full  of producing them mollusks. However, professional pearl-gatherers refuse to work being  frightened  by strange salamanders, inhabiting  lagoons. Van Toh discovers that these salamanders can learn and communicate. They cannot, however, easily open oysters for food because of their short arms. Van Toh teaches them to use knives for the purpose. Salamanders instantly begin to use knives to open thousands of oysters, providing themselves with food and the Captain with a lot of pearls. The business proliferated, gave good profit, and caused competition. But the salamanders were often eaten by sharks. The businessmen formed from salamanders groups of armed guards, supplied with knives and harpoons and taught how to use these arms. Being protected, the salamanders began reproducing very rapidly. The business made more and more profit. And in the short time big companies were established, salamanders were trained to protect their very own safety; In turn, continuing to provide high benefits to people. The salamanders were taught not only to supply pearls, but also to raise them, to construct submarine structures and master some other human technologies. The competition between different companies for pearls fields have gotten harder and harder. The companies begun to form special military squads from trained professional fighting salamanders to protect others who were involved in “productive labor” from predators and competitors.  CONTINUED

COPS AND CODDLERS REVISITED

Prof. Paul Eidelberg.

Yamin Israel Party

Yamin Israel is often asked why it does not form an alliance with nationalist elements of the Likud.  After all, doesn’t the Likud represent “the trunk of the nation.” as one prominent Likud member has emphasized?”  Hasn’t Yamin Israel always sought to form a united front of nationalist groups?   Aren’t Likud hawks like Moshe Arens tried-and-true nationalists?

These questions reminded me of an article I wrote in 1989, “Cops and Coddlers.” It was during the first Intifada, when Yitzhak Shamir headed a national unity government.  A slightly shortened version of the article follows:

On 6 February 1989, Prime Minister Shamir declared, “The time has come for the world to finally understand that Eretz Yisrael can only belong to the State of Israel. Anything else is inconceivable.”

Four days later, Shamir’s statement was contradicted by his Foreign Minister, Moshe Arens: “Just what part of the territories Israel would retreat from ... and just where the secure boundaries for Israel are, that’s a subject for interpretation; it bears directly on the permanent settlement.”

The question arises:  Is Shamir being undermined by his lieutenants, or is this a game of “hard cop/soft cop” vis-à-vis Washington and the Palestinian Arabs?  Consider the following reports:

18 January 1989.  Briefing the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Mr. Arens said:  “Israel ought not cleave to all its former positions on the Middle East dispute” (Jerusalem Post).

19 January 1989. “[The radical leftwing] Mapam Party’s central committee yesterday praised Moshe Arens for his moderate statements, terming them ‘the beginning of recognition of the national aspirations of the Palestinians.’ Mapam’s Yair Tsaban told The Jerusalem Post, ‘today, when I look for a ray of hope I find it with Shamir and Arens.’”

20 January 1989 “When the Foreign Minister, Moshe Arens, came out against cleaving to ‘all our past positions’, and spoke approvingly of respect for ‘Palestinian aspirations’, it was assumed that he was speaking for the premier, too” (Editorial, Jerusalem Post).

3 February 1989. “Pressed to say whether he had any doubt about who should be the sovereign in the area, Arens said:  ‘I think this is the end of our press conference.’ ... ‘Would you go beyond Camp David?’ a reporter asked.  ‘That’s enough’ the foreign minister said” (The Nation). [To his credit, Mr. Arens had voted against the 1978 Camp David Agreement.]

10 February 1989. Interviewed by The Jerusalem Post, Foreign Minister Arens said:  “Any country might contribute to the peace process, if it has goodwill, if it’s truly interested in the stability of the area and if, in addition to that, it has something to contribute... I think the Soviet Union falls into that category.”

3 March 89.  “Likud MK Ehud Olmert, the cabinet minister responsible for Arab affairs, told the Knesset that there had been 150 terrorist and hostile acts committed in Israel during the previous three months that could be attributed to Israeli Arabs” (Jerusalem Post).  [If Israeli Arabs engage in terrorism, why should Arens encourage the myth of peace with Palestinian Arabs?]

13 March 89. Foreign Minister Arens stated recently that “we must accommodate the Palestinian’s legitimate (national) rights,” otherwise “Zionism’s insistence on a Jewish state in Eretz Yisrael is immoral” (The Nation, emphasis added)

30 May 1989. “Calling on the U.S. not to give the Arabs false hopes, Foreign Minister Moshe Arens yesterday assured the Knesset that there would be no return to the 1967 borders, no Palestinian state, no transfer of Jews and no crimping of the rights of Jews to settle anywhere in the Land of Israel and live there within safe borders” (Jerusalem Post).

Obviously, these press reports cannot but confuse public opinion in Israel and erode public support for Jewish retention of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza.  If Shamir’s Foreign Minister, a reputed hawk, can equivocate about the ultimate status of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, what can be expected of Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who unequivocally advocates “territory for peace”?  [On Rabin, consider the following reports]:

30 January 1989. “Rabin’s decision to release prominent Palestinian leader Faisal Husseini could play an important role in furthering [Labor’s own peace] initiative.  It is felt that [Husseini’s] intimate ties with the PLO and his key role in the intifada—the reasons why he has been kept in administrative detention—make him a valuable potential partner” (Jerusalem Post). [Juxtapose what he said of the Soviet Union.]

31 January 1989. “The Defense Ministry ... freed Faisal Husseini, whom Rabin had branded one of the most dangerous PLO operatives in the West Bank” (The Nation).

Compare Rabin’s sensitivity to the Arab cause with his callousness toward the Jewish cause.  Thus, on 2 February 1989, Rabin declared. “Anyone not prepared to endure stone throwing should not live in the territories” (The Nation).

Finally, consider this remarkable report of 15 June 1989 [which, presumably, was cleared with Foreign Minister Moshe Arens].  Yossi Ben-Aharon, Director-General of the Prime Minister’s Office, said that “[the government] is not afraid of Palestinian self-determination ... and that the [Shamir] peace initiative can provide them with ‘nine out of ten parts’ of self-determination” (Jerusalem Post).

But having given the Palestinian Arabs “nine out of ten parts” of self-determination, is it not obvious that the cops and coddlers now ruling Israel will then be in no position to press for Jewish sovereignty over Judea, Samaria, and Gaza?  This being so, Mr. Shamir’s statement, that “The time has come for the world to finally understand that Eretz Yisrael can only belong to the State of Israel” is a piece of braggadocio.

The above 1989 article conveys why Yamin Israel is not enthusiastic about nationalists like Mr. Arens.  By the way, interviewed by The Jewish Journal on 21 April 2006, Mr. Arens opposed the idea of making members of the Knesset individually accountable to the people in constituency elections.  Israel’s system of government, he said, has “functioned very well.”  Indeed, it has, having rendered the people of this nation powerless.  So much for Likud nationalists and the so-called “ trunk of the nation.”

Time to put these trunkated“nationalists” to the test of institutional nationalism.

We Must Stop The Middle East Quartet (America, the EU, Russia and the UN)

The Coalition Formation
Recently, Gennadiy Faybyshenko, Director of Operations, called for a teleconference of concerned Jewish activists and organizations.  The conference was successful and attendees were all concerned about the current Israeli Government’s plan to surrender even more Jewish land to the Arabs and the international quartet’s plan to seal the deal this November.
Dismantling the Temple Mount
The time is now for direct action. The Israeli Government under Olmert is ready to sacrifice our heritage and history by enabling Arabs to dismantle the Temple Mount.
Israeli Government is Ready to Evict More Jews
The Israeli government is ready to begin dismantling of hundreds of thousands of Jewish citizens' homes and their livelihoods from their land in Judea, Shomron and Jerusalem severely violating their rights and jeopardizing the security of the entire State of Israel for all time.

The USA, part of the Middle East "Quartet" and other nations have planned a Summit this November in Washington to push their 'piece-plan', the illusion of peace which will only enable Israel's surrounding Arab neighbors a way to put the final nail in the coffin of Jewish State.  We are convinced that no country or world body has the right to negotiate the transfer of even one grain of sand that belongs to the Jewish people.  The world must recognize the eternal right of Jewish people to live safely in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem.  Olmert is supposed to be the Prime Minister, not the owner of Israel.  He should reject this quartet.
TThe time is now for us here in the USA to step in and prevent this pending disaster and the destruction of the land and people of Israel.  Olmert is just sitting back and watching as his fellow Jews are being squeezed in by Israel's hostile neighbors.  This plan will not guarantee peace in the Middle East, it will only wipe Israel off the map.  America gained and kept her independence, Israel has to do  the same.  Let our fellow Americans and the rest of the world know that Israel is not for sale.

UAC Reports: Massive Federation Forms to Confront Radical Islam

WASHINGTON DC, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Today on the anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks, a massive federation to combat radical Islam has been officially declared. The Anti-Jihad Federation, as it is being called, is coming to be the name known for any and every organization involved in confronting the threat from Islamic Jihadists. Leading Federation organizers are stressing that the Anti-Jihad Federation is a non-entity, has no charter, and is not an organization or group, but is comprised of any and all organizations and groups resisting the Jihadist threat which faces the West. Although there are many organizations involved in confronting the Jihad, and each have varying views, beliefs, and methods, the Federation is being called a uniting movement with the hopes to add and aid cohesion and communication between organizations currently working to defeat Jihadi threats and supporters. It is being said by many that the establishment of the Federation demonstrates the importance of unity against such threats. CONTINUED
